At Neuro Health BC, we want to support local organizations who help those with neurological disorders.

Epilepsy

For our Epilepsy Neuronitiative, we have chosen to raise money for epilepsyQuesnel, the BC Epilepsy Society, and the Center for Epilepsy & Seizures Education in BC. They are non-profit organizations that support ongoing research in treating epilepsy and provide resources to individuals and families affected by the disorder.

The BC Epilepsy Society was founded in 1959 to educate and advocate for individuals with epilepsy and those who suffer with chronic seizures. They are one of the largest organizations in British Columbia to provide such support. epilepsyQuesnel was founded by Natasha Wasmuth, who suffered with frequent seizures for most of her life. She was inspired to help the VGH (Vancouver General Hospital) Epilepsy Clinic’s goal to add more rooms and beds to the Seizure Investigations Unit (SIU) after experiencing long wait-times to be treated for her seizures. As of December 2019, eQ has helped secure 4 beds at the SIU. She is a pioneer for representation of seizure disorders in her small Northern British Columbian town, Quesnel. The Center for Epilepsy & Seizure Education in BC is a non-profit organization that aims to educate and break the stigma around epilepsy and seizures. Their resources are available free of charge to impacted individuals, families, and communities.
